Snow is a rare thing for those of us living in the deep South. It greeted with excitement at the beauty of it all and a little frustration at how unprepared we can be. At my home, at least, we enjoy it. It’s a day spent together drinking warming drinks, eating snow ice cream and watching our very cold natured dogs try to figure out what all this white stuff on the ground might be.
I haven’t been as productive as I’d like of late. I managed to cut out a wool kirtle for myself. I started sewing it by hand, (believe it or not I absolutely love to sew by hand) but realized this would aggravate the hell out of my elbow. As a compromise, I’m sewing the interlining in by hand and all non visible seams. I think I can live with that.
I then realized that my child has outgrown pretty much all her garb!!! I sized up a pattern I’d made for her about a year ago and, in the midst of foster kitties, family visits, business trips and every other little thing that interrupts one’s best laid plans, finally managed to cut out the damn thing. My hope is that I’ll have it in a wearable state by the weekend. Keep your fingers crossed!
I hope all of you are staying warm and safe in this weather. I know we are!
P.S. I need to add that all of my foster kitties were adopted over the weekend! We’re thrilled! We should be getting two new kitties on Thursday.
