Criticism Part 2

I got home from the event Sunday afternoon.  The event was fun, busy, a bit warm in the building, (definitely not outside) and I had the pleasure of spending time with some of my favorite people.  But that’s not what this post is about.  It’s a follow-up.

Sadly, I forgot my camera and, even though my phone has a decent camera, I did not get a picture of my A&S display.  But let’s talk about the C word; criticism.

All in all, I was happy with the judging and comments I received.  Perhaps the best part of this event was that the judges talked to me rather than judge and scoot away with no opportunity for questions and/or explanations.  I find this format of judging to be the best for a number of reasons the least of which that it’s very difficult to be unfair in judging when you must explain the logic behind the score you give.  For the entrant, the judges are not faceless creatures sent to earth to piss all over your hard work.  Truly a win/win situation for both parties.

Did I agree with everything presented?  Of course not.  I’m just as sure that the judges didn’t agree with some of reasoning behind my choices.  The important part of the entire process is and will always be communication.  We communicated with each other and it was fantastic!
