Everything about this little pie is made from scratch. I made the graham cracker crust rather than copping out and using a pre-made crust. I whipped my own cream rather than using a ‘whipped topping’ thing. Trust me, for someone as lazy as myself I’m pretty pleased about all that.
The only ingredient I didn’t have on hand were roasted almonds to sprinkle on the top. I opted for pecans. Nuts are nuts.
The result was a super creamy and delicious little pie. It tasted a bit like melted chocolate ice cream. The best part was that making it didn’t heat up the kitchen in any significant way and, during the summer, that’s always a good thing.
B and El really loved this pie. I did, too. Once I score a tea cart and a significant number of friends, this darling will be at the top of my list for a dessert party.
As I’ve been working my way a bit backwards through Ms. Crocker, I think I’m going to end my expirimentation with a main dish. I’ve chosen to attempt her lasagna recipe. I’ve already anticipated some of the changes I’ll need to make but I’m excited about the prospect of making this bad boy.
