“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” —–Ernest Hemingway
My last post was close to a year ago and, in a way, we’ve come full circle. Back then, we were thinking about moving. Now, we are moving. Moving to the home of our dreams, making changes in our lives separately and together.
The events that brought us full circle were hard to bear. Illness, loss, and a lot of really sad moments. My husband lost both his parents in less than 30 days, and that was after other family members, a friend and a pet all passed as well. Illness dogged me until I ended up in the hospital, eventually having surgery. Trying to sum that up in a couple of sentences doesn’t really represent what we went through, but it’s enough.
Here’s what we learned; we are strong and the places in us that felt broken are strong. Love for each other, for those we lost and for friends who offered gentle encouragement carried us through.
We close on our new home in May. The same month in which I was married. The same month which saw the birth of our beloved child. It seems appropriate that a new chapter of our life begins in May. It’s a journey, and I want to take you along for the ride.
